We have created our audio editor to make your life easier when recording your podcast. Here are 7 simple steps to follow:
- Press on File and select “New Recording”.
- If you are recording using an external microphone or an external mic with a sound card, press on Devices and select the microphone’s name once it appears.
- Hit the Record Button to start recording.
- Once you have finished recording, press on “Finish Recording”.
- Click on the “Open Recording” button, the recorded audio file will now show as a waveform on the editor. At the bottom of the screen there is a signal meter, make sure the recording level peaks at a maximum of -15 to maintain a good recording signal. If the signal is higher than -15 for example -5, go to the Effects tab at the top of the screen and select the “Gain” button, lower the gain level below 100% then press apply gain. Once the gain is applied, check your signal on the meter if it peaks at -15, if not, then raise the gain a bit until it hits -15. Always make sure your recording signal is between -20 and -15 on the meter to keep a good recording level with no distortions.
- Once the signal is fixed, you can listen to your recording by pressing the spacebar for playback. If your recording contains noise, go to effects and apply noise reduction, this will automatically reduce the noise signal in the recording. You can also apply effects like removing silence if there is any in your recording, and cut the clips that you don't want so you can paste them together later.
- The final step is exporting your audio file. Press on the button in the top left of the screen and then click on” Export / Download”. If your recording contains any music export it to stereo, if not export it to mono. Always make sure the format of your audio files is Mp3, 256 Kbps.
